TOUR DESCRIPTION
TRIP DATES: Sep 07, 2010 - Sep 21, 2010
START - END LOCATIONS: Eugene, OR - San Francisco, CA
Join us for this bike-touring adventure along a prime cut of the West Coast and experience some of the most beautiful and remote sections of Adventure Cycling’s ever-popular Pacific Coast Bicycle Route. As we ride from the spectacular Oregon coastline to the great redwood forests of Northern California, we’ll enjoy magnificent ocean vistas, explore long stretches of sand beaches, investigate tidal pools, zip past rustic farmsteads, and cruise in the cool, quiet shadows of the world’s tallest trees.
Imagine ethereal, misty mornings and warm, sunny afternoons; hearty meals (fresh seafood, anyone?) and beachside bonfires. Our group will also ride through towns like Crescent City, Trinidad, and Eureka, where reminders of the bygone Victorian logging and gold-rush eras remain. As we proceed from one great city to another — Eugene to San Francisco — we’ll likely be aided by a most appreciated northwesterly tailwind. And, while the terrain we explore may be relatively wild, our experience will not be uncivilized. We’ll have the luxury of our support van accompanying us to carry gear — all we need do is pedal our bikes and soak up the scenery.
