Pueblos to Peaks  -  New!

TOUR DESCRIPTION

TRIP DATES: Aug 21, 2010 - Aug 29, 2010
START - END LOCATIONS: Sante Fe, NM - Boulder, CO

If you’re looking for some of the finest cycling in the Rockies, this tour is for you! We’re taking the back route between two cycling meccas: Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Boulder, Colorado. Plus, we’ll enjoy some evenings in the comfort of indoor lodging.

We’ll explore numerous sites of historical, artistic, and scenic interest — including Taos, New Mexico, with its deep roots in early Native American and Spanish traditions, and high-altitude Colorado, where modern ski towns have links to the 19th century mining era. Starting in Santa Fe, we’ll trace the western flank of the beautiful Sangre de Cristo mountain range and cross the broad San Luis Valley, where we’ll take in the wondrous Great Sand Dunes National Park. After a layover day in the outdoor-recreation center of Salida, we’ll climb into the true alpine country of the Colorado Rockies, enjoying time in Breckenridge and other mining-turned-resort towns. Then, after several Continental Divide crossings, we’ll pedal down to the dense pine forests and striking rock formations of the Colorado Front Range, and our final destination in Boulder. For the highlights of the high country, place this trip at the top of your list!
