It is no exaggeration
to affirm that a journey
by bicycle is like none
other; it is a thing
apart; it has a tempo
and a style of its own.

2010 Tours: More locations, Great Value

Our 2010 tours line-up features more than 40 bike tours that run from five days to three months in practically every corner of the U.S., and at 2009 prices! There is something for everyone. Below is a taste of this year's offerings.

Relaxed Tours
Great trips for anyone looking for a fun low-key vacation with lots of off bike attractions, check out this year’s line-up: Katy Trail, Colorado, Great Lakes, and Idaho.

Epic Adventures
These include shorter trips to challenge even the most experienced bicycle tourist such as our new Pueblos to Peaks tour in Colorado, and our longer, cross-country adventures such as the Northern Tier (back-by-popular-demand), Trans Am, and Pacific Coast.

Family Fun
These popular tours are an excellent way for you to share your passion for cycling with a younger rider — great locations this year in Idaho and on the C&O Canal.

Montana and More
Check out our brand new Cycle Montana set to roam through the heart of our rugged, historically rich, and beautiful Big Sky State. Or, explore red rock country on this year’s Cycle Utah. Plus, Cycle Vermont is back again after a sold out 2009 tour!

National Parks
Ken Burns captured their magnificence, and what better way to explore these national treasures than by bicycle? You can join one of our new Teton-Yellowstone tours (offered self-contained and van-supported) and experience two of our nation’s most beloved National Parks. We’re also offering a new Death Valley Explorer trip in March, and a chance to explore the Blue Ridge Parkway, Shenandoah and Great Smoky Mountains national parks in June on our Blue Ridge Bliss tour.

Trips are definitely filling; we already have a waiting list for our new van-supported Southern Tier!

FIND THE PERFECT TOUR — ABOUT OUR TOURS WEB PAGES

Each individual tour's web page includes a short description of the tour, trip details (dates, cost, etc), the itinerary, and testimonials from past tour participants.

Use the tours matrix to compare all of our tours — cost, number of days, level of support, etc. You can easily sort the tours by each variable by clicking on the column headers.

2009 TESTIMONIALS

“... the entire support staff were GREAT! Very well orgainized — A FIRST CLASS TRIP. The Map Guy was humorous and made the daily map meetings an entertaining event...Another fantastic part of the trip was the opportunity to meet so many interesting and adventurous people. And last but not least, the food was so good I can't even describe it. Every meal was on time, delicious, fresh and five star quality...Can't wait for my next trip with Adventure Cycling. Thanks!”

“I just wanted to say how much I appreciated the professionalism of the event staff. I was in the "recreation biz" for many years and know how working with the public in an outdoor setting can create unique challenges on many levels! Group dynamics are tricky, and the staff handled the many personality types on the trip with aplomb.”

I moved to Montana for lots of reason — the vast, wide-open sky, the sprawling eastern plains, the enormous mountains, the endless summer days. I did not move to Montana for the winters; I don’t know how to ski and the freezing cold seems to bite right through my sensitive, Southern Virginia bred skin. As I write this, I’m watching the snow start to fall outside, and I’m planning on signing up straightaway for the local gym’s Spinning Classes. I loathe training indoors, but, because I’m not as tough as my friend Josh (pictured below), November through January are synonymous with treadmills, stationary bicycles, and trying to figure out how to balance on rollers.

I also spend the winter months dreaming about cycling in warmer places. This year, we’re offering the California Winter Warmer tour in February, giving everyone a chance to do some sweet, early-season desert riding. Use it as a chance for some spring training, or simply an opportunity to escape snowdrifts and Vitamin D lamps, and experience some SoCal sunshine. Until then, if anyone has any good winter training tips, let me know…
