An Adventure Cycling Leadership Training Course just might change your life in a single weekend. The agenda has proven appeal to cycling veterans and neophytes alike, which is why we require that every Adventure Cycling expedition leader attend this valuable course.

You will spend three days-plus with some of our most experienced leaders, learning the Adventure Cycling philosophy of leadership and how it applies to both our self-contained and supported bicycle trips. You’ll explore the group dynamics of outdoor leadership situations, group motivation, conflict resolution, public relations, bicycle repair, camping techniques, food, safety, and more … all within the context of a self-contained bike trip. We won’t be breaking camp every day, but we’ll do everything else that we would do on a tour, and we’ll show you the inside view of how—and especially why—it works.

And the food! Our food competitions are fierce, and the end products are excellent. You’ll also be challenged in role playing, where you deal with scenarios and characters that you might confront on a tour—or even in your office at work.

The course trains participants in the skills needed to manage small groups and in the logistics of a self-contained or van-supported bicycle trip, but our leadership philosophy is also relevant for many other types of group situations. This experience will serve you well, regardless of how you choose to use the knowledge you acquire. Some attendees want to form their own tour company; others simply hope to gain expertise in organizing and leading their own club or personal rides.

The end result is a chance for some serious introspection and self-evaluation, as we show you some of what it takes to be an excellent leader—both on a bicycle trip and in life. Sign up soon—these courses fill quickly.
