The Thomas Stevens Society
ADVENTURE CYCLING'S ANNUAL GIVING CLUB
Nearly 120 years ago, an avid bicyclist by the name of Thomas Stevens became the first person to travel around the world on two wheels. It was a courageous event, considering that he completed the journey on a cumbersome old penny-farthing bicycle over terrain that was often wild and inhospitable.

The Thomas Stevens Society is Adventure Cycling Association's annual-giving club. With an annual contribution of $1,000 or more, members of this society help to ensure a long-term base of support for key programs such as route development and mapping.

As a leader in the Thomas Stevens Society, you will receive:
  • A copy of Stevens' account of his trip, Around the World on a Bicycle
  • Invitations to special regional events
  • Recognition as a leader who is broadening the horizons for bicycle travel

Since its inception in 1973, Adventure Cycling has accomplished so much because our members believe in the power of bicycling. If we hadn't dreamt big in 1976, sending thousands of bicyclists across the nation to celebrate the Bicentennial, cycling wouldn't be as popular as it is today.

There are three categories to choose from in this society:
  • TransAm Travel $5,000-plus
  • Adventurer's Circle $2,500 to $4,999
  • Touring Circle $1,000 to $2,499
