Celebrating 30 Years of Adventure Cycling

It is hard to believe, but 2006 marks the 30th anniversary of the event, known as Bikecentennial, that spawned Adventure Cycling Association. We have been celebrating in many ways this year and would love for you to take advantage of some opportunities that are still left.

RIDER REGISTRY
Through the magic of the Web, we want to connect the thousands of riders who have trekked across America – north to south, east to west, pavement or dirt, solo or in groups. We are especially keen to find original Bikecentennial riders (we don’t have records of everyone who did the big ride in 1976). Sign up with our Ride Registry today.

GUIDED TOURS
We still have some late season trips available. Whether your fancy is road or dirt riding, supported or self contained, or long or short rides, we offer that perfect trip for you. Check out our tours pages and tours schedule. Need help deciding? Write or call our tours department at tours@adventurecycling.org or (800) 755-2453.

NEW GOODIES
In our new Cyclosource catalog, we feature some fantastic new lightweight camping products, along with a few terrific 30th anniversary products, including notecards and a handsome wool jersey from Ibex, with the new 30th anniversary logo (and bear in mind that this is cool, new wool – not your grandparents’ wool). Visit our Cyclosource online store or call (800) 721-8719 to place your order.

NEW ROUTES
What would be a new year without new routes to ride? We have completed the first two (southern portion) maps of the Underground Railroad Bicycle Route. And we will start work on a new route tracking the Pacific Crest though Washington, Oregon, and California. See all of our world-class cycling maps on our Routes and Mapping pages and start planning your next great cycling adventure.

NEW TRAVELING EXHIBIT
One of Adventure Cycling ’s founders (and our current Art Director), Greg Siple, is creating a traveling exhibit of cross-country rider photos from our eye-opening gallery of images, taken by Greg and others over the last three decades. The exhibit will appear at the Missoula Art Museum and, we dearly hope, move on to many venues around the country.

We hope you’ll join us in celebrating 30 years of inspiring Americans of all ages and abilities to travel by bicycle for fitness, fun and self-discovery. Don't hesitate to contact us at info@adventurecycling.org or (800) 755-2453 with any of your questions or comments.

Cheers to another 30 years of great riding!
